Plastic Ingenuity is expanding its operations in Europe by acquiring German thermoforming provider Spezi-Pack. This purchase enables Plastic Ingenuity to offer regional European manufacturing for medical device and pharmaceutical packaging, thereby increasing efficiency across the value chain.

Neither company disclosed the deal’s financial terms.

“With manufacturing now available in both North America and Europe, Plastic Ingenuity is better positioned to support localized production, improve supply chain resilience, and meet the evolving needs of global healthcare customers,” Plastic Ingenuity President/CEO Dan Kuehn stated.

The Spezi-Pack team brings nearly 40 years of thermoforming experience, and former company president Dirk Walters will continue to oversee operations in Germany (Dresden area). “A strong, tenured team is already in place, and they are excited about the growth opportunities our new ownership will provide to them,” Kuehn added.

Significant investment in the newly acquired German facility will further support healthcare applications. Plastic Ingenuity’s planned enhancements include an ISO Class 7 cleanroom and new thermoforming lines to expand capacity for medical and pharmaceutical packaging. These upgrades are targeted to be fully operational by the first quarter of 2027.

With eight strategic locations, Plastic Ingenuity has expanded its footprint beyond North America into Europe. Its experience, global reach, and genuine dedication to customers enable the custom thermoformer to bring clients’ packaging vision to life, scale production, and create a partnership that lasts beyond the product’s lifecycle. Plastic Ingenuity specializes in food, healthcare, and consumer goods packaging and offers a range of services to support customers’ sustainability and circularity goals.
